Paul Gauguin is one of the major French painters of the 19th century and one of the most important precursors of modern art. The masterpieces gathered in the exhibition of the Grand Palais highlight the artist's work on matter and his creative process: Gauguin built his art on the repetition of themes and recurring motifs.
