Musée des Impressionnismes - Giverny

Hiramatsu, le bassin aux nymphéas. Hommage à Monet

From 13 July to 31 October 2013

The exhibition shows that, just like Japanese etchings were for the impressionists a way to introduce a new philosophy of space and light, Claude Monet's paintings were a source of inspiration for Hiramatsu's creation. His majestic screens and canvases painted in the Japanese traditional technique are shown alongside Monet's works and a selection of Japanese etchings from his collection, from Hokusai to Hiroshige

Member offer: Free admission to the exhibition on Wednesday 11 September and Sunday 29 September 2013 on presentation of your Carte Blanche.

Palais Garnier

An architectural masterpiece famous around the world, Garnier's Opéra was the thirteenth opera house in Paris since this institution was founded in 1669 by Louis XIV. The construction was decided by Napoléon III as part of the renovation of the capital city conducted under his authority by the Baron Haussmann. A competition was organised to choose the architect who would design it and Charles Garnier was the winner. The construction went on for fifteen years, from 1860 to 1875, interrupted by many events including the 1870 war with Prussia, the fall of the imperial regime and the Paris Commune. It was eventually inaugurated on 5 January 1875.

Member offer: Reduced rate for the unguided visit of Garnier's Opéra on presentation of your Carte Blanche.

Musée Jean-Jacques Henner

Housed in a recently restored 19th-Century hôtel particulier, the museum is devoted to the works of Jean-Jacques Henner (1829-1905). From his native Alsace to Paris, where he pursued his career, including a stay at the Villa Médicis following his being awarded the Prix de Rome, the collections retrace the itinerary of an artist considered at the beginning of the 20th Century as one of the most important in his time. With many pieces from Henner's studio, they give a better understanding of the way an "official" artist worked in the time of Impressionism.

Member offer: Reduced rate on the permanent collection admission ticket and cultural activities of the Musée Henner (except single price events).
