The great age of technical innovation and political activity, the 19th century, the "century of the Musée d'Orsay", was dominated by the idea of both "making something new" and an intense interest in the past in the field of artistic creation.

The first cycle Back to Bach will be dedicated to the return to Johann Sebastian Bach, the main beneficiary of this trend towards rediscovery and reinvention. French Suites will then explore the relations between French musicians and some of their great predecessors.

The auditorium will also offer a discovery of Italian Modernities in connection to an Italian decorative arts exhibition and the recitals cycle Unusual Women in tribute to the artists who gave melody and lied their mark of prestige. As always a number of concerts are scheduled for children and families.
<br /Finally, - a new feature for the public - the pre-concert talks the pre-concert talks in the auditorium, and in particular the Two of a Kind , cycle connected to the underlying theme of the musical season, where the museum curators will present masterpieces from the collection in light of the older works from which they were directly inspired.
