Viva Verdi

Do we still appreciate today the influence of Verdi's melodramatic style on the history of sensibilities in the second half of the 19th century? Eclipsed at first by the prestige of Wagner's work, the revival of Verdi (1813-1901) took place in the second half of the 20th century and Verdi took his place in the "musical museum of our time, just as history painting reappeared on these same walls, heralding the future place of cinema in the collective imagination.
A series of concerts will celebrate the bicentenary of Verdi's birth and will include his contemporaries, with a repertoire of chamber music and vocal music, with works by Verdi, as well as by Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868), Ottorino Respighi (1879-1936) and their French contemporaries, Gounod and Ravel.
