To mark this occasion, and linked to the Musée d'Orsay's own twentieth anniversary, it opened to the public on 6 December 1986. The VU' agency suggested giving a free hand to five of its greatest photographers: Gabriele Basilico, Rip Hopkins, Richard Dumas, Juan Manuel Castro Prieto, Stanley Greene. They have each photographed one particular aspect of the Museum – its architecture, staff, collections and its public. Their work will be shown in the Museum, in four exhibitions, from 5 December 2006 to 29 July 2007.
