Patience

The Royal College of Music in London will complete our cycle of English music with Patience by Gilbert and Sullivan, a satire on the British aesthetic movement of the 1870s. The operas of Gilbert and Sullivan are inseparable from the musical entertainment of the Victorian era, and the importance of Arthur Sullivan in England matches that of Jacques Offenbach in France.
Patience is the story of coy lovers, and ridiculous poetic jousting for the attention of a pretty young milkmaid who has no interest in poetry, all performed with typically British humour and sparkling music.
