Princes and Princesses

Recommended for 6-10 year olds
Kings, queens, princes and princesses – the Musée d'Orsay has them all. But don't be taken in by appearances, not everyone is cut out to be a king and even the prettiest princess will probably never become a queen, but that does not really matter at the end of the day.

Heroes

Recommended for 6-10 year olds
Courage, bravery and heroism – at the Musée d'Orsay you can meet some of the great figures who have shaped history! This tour will introduce five heroes and heroines in five works which children are encouraged to look at closely.

Combat Sports

Recommended for 6-10 year olds
Fighting in all its forms, for sport or to defend oneself from a genuine danger, is a part of life and artists are aware of this and like to depict it. They often have to struggle in their own way to express themselves. The selection of works presented on this tour will show you fierce fights, both visible and hidden.

Little Brats

Recommended for 10-15 years old
As good as gold? At the Musée d'Orsay, children dance, run, scheme and make sandcastles. Are they really little brats, or are they just typical children?

Matter of style

Recommended for 10-15 years old
Some artists produced great pictures and sculptures exactly as they were taught at Fine Art School. Their work was beautifully drawn or sculpted on a large scale according to the tastes of the time. In other words it was perfect. However, this tour will also introduce you to other artists who refused to obey the rules and did not believe in following academic teaching. They did as they pleased. Their works are different and we like them too and they helped the history of art to develop.

Action!

Recommended for 10-15 years old
The Musée d'Orsay really is a lively place! The works of art move and their subjects are full of life too. Long before film was invented in 1895, artists knew how to depict motion.
