Dance · Skaut
The "Les Norvégiennes en scène" festival
Echoing the exhibition "Harriet Backer (1845-1932). The music of color", the Musée d'Orsay is organizing the "Les Norvégiennes en scène" festival, which explores the richness of the voices of today’s Norwegian artists: choreographer Hallgrim Hansegård presents the dancers of Skaut in a dialogue between contemporary and traditional repertoires.
Skaut is the fabric that covers Norwegian women’s hair. Between tradition and emancipation, their hair tied or untied, the Skaut dancers move between contemporary dance and traditional Norwegian folk dance. An intense, wild performance by Norwegian choreographer Hallgrim Hansegård.
An avant-garde choreographer, Hallgrim Hansegård is widely recognized for his work revitalizing folk dance. He readily blends traditional dance with contemporary innovation in harmonious performances which explore Norwegian history through dance.
