Musée d'Orsay: Restoring the Artworks

Restoring the Artworks

The Musée d'Orsay has a voluntary policy of restoration, working in close collaboration with the Centre de Recherche et de Restauration des Musées de France (C2RMF).
The Museum organises several types of project: preventative conservation, routine and in-depth restorations, protection of the paint surface and restoration of old frames.

Over the years, these operations have involved every period of artistic creation between 1848 and 1914. Since 2016, the focus has been on Academic painting, with in-depth interventions supported by sponsorship.
