Dear Readers,
As of 13 February 2019, access to the documentation and the library of the conservation will be on the Seine side of the building (entrance place Henry de Montherlant).

Conditions of access

Open Monday to Friday,
2pm to 5.30pm.

The library is principally open to:

  • curators
  • archivists, guides and official representatives of the Ministry of Culture
  • university lecturers
  • post-graduate students
  • students of the Ecole du Louvre preparing a thesis
  • students of the Ecole Nationale du Patrimoine
  • descendants of artists


The library holds books and periodicals relating to artists and artistic movements for the period 1848-1914.

The collections are not freely accessible. The bibliographical references required to complete the request forms for works can be found on the Ministry of Culture website, in the collective catalogue of the French National Museums libraries..

Loans are not permitted.
