The Musée d'Orsay aims to encourage research into the history of art in the second half of the 19th century. To this end, it has set up the Prix du Musée d'Orsay. On this website, in addition to the collections catalogue, the researcher can find resources which are continually updated: an index of memoirs and theses from the period (June 2007), an index of works (texts and images) mentioned in the archives of art dealer Ambroise Vollard, an index of the museum's collection of archives and of detailed inventories already compiled, a database on the Salons, currently under construction.
Initially, a list of the main online resources on websites of French and international institutions has been made available under this option. It shows databases, indexes of images, websites for the great collections relating to the 19th century, and references to research institutions. These pages are in French only.
