Berg-Ejvind och hans hustru [The Outlaw and His Wife]

Filmed in three locations, a farm, the mountains and the lonely snow-covered landscape, this is the dramatic story of two lovers who are forced to flee from society.
This film, in which Sjöström also takes the leading role, is a perfect summary of his favourite themes: the struggle of the individual against an intolerant society and the untameable forces of nature. The film received excellent reviews, especially in France where Louis Delluc wrote: “Here is maybe the most beautiful film in the world. It is the first love duet heard in the cinema.”
