The Wind

Letty moves to a desert region where a terrible wind constantly blows. She is soon forced to marry a brutal cowboy…
The project was the idea of Lillian Gish who gave the screenplay to Frances Marion and called in Victor Sjöström to direct. He had already directed her in The Scarlet Letter. Sjöström produced a masterpiece that featured all his obsessions taken to new heights: the violent forces of nature, characters overtaken by madness and reality transfigured by their visions.
