Musée d'Orsay: The triumph of Mélodie and Lied

The triumph of Mélodie and Lied

Lauréats 2019-2020 de l'Académie Orsay-Royaumont© Julien Benhamou
It is already the third season for the Academy devoted to melody and lied, a joint initiative by the Musée d'Orsay auditorium and the Royaumont Foundation. It is now established as a key event for those who love the genre, and an amazing school for the young singers and pianists, destined to train with the greatest performers in the world. The evening recital by guest tutors is the grand finale we always await with bated breath.

Last season, Christoph Prégardien, heir to the heroes of the German lied such as Häfliger or Schreier, presented us with Winter Journey, a Schubertian classic. He returns to us with these two major cycles by Schumann, in which his skilful diction and musical subtlety will amaze us once again.

The great Swedish mezzo-soprano does us the immense honour of taking the stage in the auditorium for a tribute to Baudelaire. From Duparc to Léo Ferré, here she is at home with the verses and repertoires that she loves so much and performs so brilliantly.

We welcome Stéphanie d'Oustrac into the prestigious family of the Orsay and Royaumont masters of lied and melody! A hugely talented lyric actress, celebrated on stages throughout the world, this mezzo-soprano cultivates this most intimate of art forms with love. She excels here in Ravel’s taunting sensuality.
