The Musée d'Orsay, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, has considerably expanded its collection of works by Nabis artists over the years to become the world’s leading museum when it comes to representing this aesthetic movement that flourished in the last decade of the 19th century.
The Nabis expressed an original vision of the world, colourful, decorative, intimate, that is very much in line with the leanings of our era. Their paintings charm with their style and their instantly recognisable subjects, through their analytical fineness and their radical aesthetics.
An exhibition entitled Murmur and tumult. Masterpieces of Nabis from the Musée d’Orsay, will be held at the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum in Tokyo from 4 February to 21 May 2017. It will include 63 paintings and pastels, 10 drawings, 3 objets d'art and 2 sculptures, and is the first exhibition on the Nabis to be held in Japan.

The exhibition is now over.
