Musée d'Orsay: Dying on Stage

Dying on Stage

Christodoulos Panayiotou

Inspired by the production of the ballet The Temple Dancer by Rudolf Noureev in 1992 in his declining state of health, Dying on Stage is a reflection on the impossible representation of death on stage. A performance in three chapters, Dying on Stage is composed of a collection of anecdotes, videos taken from YouTube and dances that Christodoulos Panayiotou has assembled in archives over the years. Dying on Stage is an intimate gesture through which Panayiotou unveils these archives, with a novel selection for each of these three afternoons.
Alongside this reading-performance presented as part of the Festival d'Automne à Paris, Christodoulos Panayiotou has designed an installation specifically for the Musée d'Orsay in room 67 in which he examines the museum’s relationships to time.

Joint production Musée d'Orsay – Festival d'Automne à Paris FIAC, as part of the Parades for FIAC festival
