Peintre, graveur, lithographe et sculpteur. Né à Dijon, mort à Walford. A Paris en 1851, il fut l'élève de Lecoq de Boisbaudran et débuta au Salon en 1857. Naturalisé britannique en 1881. Lié à Whistler, il le rejoignit à Londres en 1857. Actif à Paris et à Londres.
