Entreprise fondée par Josiah Wedwood et reprise par plusieurs générations dont Godfrey Wedgwood, neveu par alliance de Charles Darwin. La firme fut dirigée artistiquement à partir de 1860 par le français Emile Lessore, peintre ayant déjà travaillé à la Manufacture de Sèvres. Walter Crane, Christopher Dresser travaillèrent pour la firme.
