The Musée d'Orsay contains one of the richest collections of Impressionist paintings in the world. These works enable us to trace the history of a group whose activities might have been rather short-lived as they just relied on the eight collective exhibitions that they engaged in between 1874 and 1886. But are we talking about a coherent, homogeneous movement, a group of individuals united by the same aesthetic doctrine? Nothing could be further from the truth.
The works here provide an example. The museum guide will choose works to illustrate the theme. Only the tours with English-speaking guides are featured here. For other tours see French version of website.
