Led by Raphaël Pidoux, the Cello8 Ensemble is an original, not to say spectacular octet of young violoncello talents. For this Concert at 12:30 relating to the “Paris 1874, the Impressionist Moment” exhibition, the octet will be providing its audience with a musical immersion in the impressionist era, with composers including Bizet, Fauré and Satie.
On the Musée d'Orsay auditorium’s stage, eight violoncellists. As they play, the theme they’re interpreting passes from one instrument to the next, creating movement, music traveling through space. Musical movement is only a step away from impressionist movement, no more than a touch, a note, a glide of the bow across scores by Bizet, Fauré, Wagner, Gounod and Satie... A fine program indeed!
