The radiant mezzo, whose incarnations of the heroines of the Italian Romantic bel canto have conquered the world, is also a lover of French song, which she serves up in this program with all the expected grace and wit.
Admirers of Karine Deshayes will not be surprised, however, as this delicate Mozartian and sparkling Rossinian also knows how to make audiences in the great opera houses weep with Charlotte in Massenet's Werther, or thrill them in the title role of Carmen. Here she communes with Bizet’s melodic side, as well as Berlioz and Gounod, whose songs weave correspondences with opera, as well as exploring the more intimate and secret art of Fauré.
