Opéra-Comique · L'Amour à la Française (Love French-Style)
Ambulatory Show
Could there possibly be a better combination than the Opéra-Comique, the Palazzetto Bru Zane - French Romantic Music Center and the Musée d’Orsay when it comes to tackling Love French-Style? An ideal encounter between music, theater, painting and sculpture. A subtle, light-hearted fashion (Bell-Epoque and modern all in one) of addressing the subject from various perspectives.
The show revolves around four women of strong character and definite charm who, through a variety of seductive ploys, seek to win a wavering, naïve young man. Performed by soloists from the Opéra-Comique Academy, musical works from Jacques Offenbach to Reynaldo Hahn, by way of Gaston Serpette, Hervé and Louis Varney, resonate with the works exhibited in the Musée d’Orsay’s nave. Intimate airs alternate with more vibrant ensembles, and each scene of banter between the protagonists is a pretext for wordplay, double meanings and self-mockery. A true delight!
