This was the most important exhibition in France about the artist since the celebration of the centennary of Gauguin's birth organised in the Orangerie des Tuileries in 1949. The aim of this exhibition was to show and to study Gauguin's work as a whole, including all the techniques. Paying hommage to a remarkably complex artistic creation, this retrospective, aimed at the public at large as well as at specialists, highlighted the artist's achievements in the different fields without dealing exclusively with his most famous works, that made him the mythical artist of exoticism and primitivism.
Gauguin's works, which are today spread over the five continents, were lent by museums and private collectors throughout the world (Europe, United States, USSR, Canada, Japan, Israel, Australia, South America, Tahiti...)

The exhibition is now over.
