The Lady with Fans painted by Manet, Nina de Callias, also known as Nina de Villard, was an engaging personnality of the 1870s : a strong woman, bourgeois with bohemian tastes, spiritual and a musician, she attracted numerous talented writers and artists to her salon, many of whom became true friends.
