Manet and Degas in music
From April 04th to July 27th, 2023
Two views of the century, two tormented souls, and an unfailing (if stormy) friendship. Édouard Manet and Edgar Degas both looked at theaters and concerts as a reflection of society, and music and dance as a sublimation of licit or repressed sexual impulses. Extraordinary portraitists of women, especially singers, actresses and dancers, the two painters could not have helped but be fascinated by the artists who pay tribute to them here: Patricia Petibon and Claire-Marie Le Guay.
